Future
Default publishing — websites monetised by display ads and Google search traffic — is collapsing. AI is the new front door. Whoever defines the ad layer inside AI conversations sets the standard for the next decade.
For 25 years content websites paid the bills with display ads and SEO traffic from Google. That model is breaking, fast. Google's own AI Overviews answer the question inline — no click-through. Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude all summarise and cite without sending traffic back. The page-view was the unit of payment. The page-view is being deprecated.
Every purchasing decision now starts with a question to an AI. “What's the best CRM for a 5-person consultancy?” “Plan me a weekend in Lisbon.” “Which AI coding agent is fastest?” The answer is a paragraph, not a page of blue links — and that paragraph is the new search results page, with one critical difference: it has no ad layer yet. Buyers see the AI's recommendation; advertisers can't pay to be inside it.
Display ads took ten years to standardise around banner sizes and DoubleClick. AdWords took six years to lock in the search-ad standard. Whoever defines how monetisation works inside AI conversations now sets the standard for the decade. AdCrier exists to be that primitive — open, transparent, programmable, publisher-respecting — before someone closed and opaque locks it in. The window closes the day the first AI infrastructure provider bundles a default ad layer of their own.
What we're building
The marketplace today is the foundation. The arc points at AdCrier becoming the standard monetisation primitive for AI surfaces — the way AdSense was for the open web, but transparent and programmable from day one.
